Tigers go down to Rockets

Fayetteville High School's Tigers took a tough loss Friday night playing up against the 2-A Forrest High School. FHS went down to the Rockets, 51-0.

With last weeks dismissal of starting quarterback Jacious Clark from the team for discipline reasons and the injury to backup quarterback Levi Sloan in the Tigers previous match up with Nolensville, the duties fell on the shoulders of Isaac Pace, normally a running back and defensive back.

"It's obvious we didn't play well," Coach Alvin Palmer said. "We had some discipline issues we had to deal with - no one player is bigger than the team. We're young with three seniors but we have people who want to be here."

"When they (Forrest) ran the opening kick off back for a score - it went down hill from there," he added. "We had turnovers early that gave them a short field - we put ourselves in a hole early."

"Now it's up to us to get out there and do it," said Palmer. "We've got to keep working and teaching to get better and be ready for Huntland - that's a region game."

Friday night the bleeding started early for the Tigers as the Rockets ran back the opening kick off for a score and it didn't stop. Following a series for turnover Forrest was up 37-0 at the end of one.

Fayetteville's offensive struggles continued - FHS moved to the Rockets side of the field three times during the match up. The mercy rule was in effect the second half.

Forrest tacked on a score in the second and third quarters to finish with the win.

After playing up their first two games of the season the Tigers have their region opener this Friday night on the road at Huntland. Kick off is at 7 p.m.
