Falcons go down to Wildcats

Lincoln County High School's Falcon took a homecoming loss Friday night going down to Tullahoma, 21-10.

LCHS is now 2-3 overall and 1-1 in region action.

Against Tullahoma by the buzzer the numbers for both teams were balanced but LCHS made mistakes at critical times. The Cat's took advantage of field position executing the running game of Braisen Corn.

"We shot ourselves in the foot to many times in the first half," Coach Tim Johnson said. "We're a young football team and the guys are still learning the little things make a big difference. We're playing some good football teams back to back with more experience and they execute well."

"We had a pretty good game plan against their running game," he added. "There's time win bigger and stronger is going to win out but at times we didn't follow through on tackling."

"We're playing a brutal schedule every week with quality teams," Coach Johnson continued. "But that's the way we like it. We're going to out there and practice this week to work and get better on the little things."

Friday night it was a scoreless first quarter. Early in the second frame the Falcons moved to the Wildcats 7 yard line but had to settle for a 25 yard field goal by Reid Hardin.

After starting at their own 40 yard line ten plays later Corn pushed it in from the 6 yard line. The PAT was good and LC trailed 7-3. After a short Falcon punt the Cats started at the LC 32 yard line. Three plays later Corn carried it in from the 6-yard line - the PAT was good and Tullahoma was up 14-3 at the break.

Midway in the third West Jenkins broke loose on a 46 yard run taking the Falcons to the Wildcats 17-yard line. But LCHS had to settle for a field goal attempt - this time a 32 yard try was no good.

In their next possession the Cat's started at their own 20-yard line. Eleven plays later Tullahoma scored their final score of the night on a 12 yard pass. The PAT was good and the Falcons trailed 21-3 at the end of three.
